A day in your life as a Project Manager
Under the direction of Manager, the Project Manager I oversees and manages assigned capital projects and/or work requests.  In addition, the Project Manager I evaluates and develops space plans, project estimates, budgets, and related Request for Proposals (RFPs). If applicable or appropriate, assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • Oversees, manages and coordinates work of project vendors with business units to ensure project is completed as scheduled and budgeted. Performs construction progress site visits, as applicable.  Reviews and manages changes to the project as applicable, including impacts to project cost and schedule.  Updates and reconciles project costs monthly for accounting reports.  Upon completion of projects, ensures all documentation is correctly completed and closing data, including capitalization information, is reported to the appropriate departments. 
  • Prepares Request For Proposals (RFP) for A/E design and construction services. Develops space plans and recommends equipment/color/material selections, where feasible.  Develops project cost estimates and obtains proposals from third party vendors as applicable.  Reviews and analyzes bid results.  Prepares a comprehensive project budget and project timeline for Cost Center Representative and CREFD approval.  Develops documentation for executive management and funding approval.
  • Partners with initiating Cost Center Representative and appropriate others to determine project scope of work.  Researches and understands the business unit, corporate needs and issues as it relates to the project.  Provides feedback, suggestions and guidance to best meet the business unit and corporate goals.
  • Provides complete and accurate information to Contracts Specialist to execute contracts, purchase orders and service agreements, as applicable.  Reviews payment application documents and approves invoices for payment in timely manner.
  • Works with Corporate Real Estate & Facilities personnel to facilitate all work in compliance with Bank of Hawaii policies, procedures and standards. 
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

  • College degree from an accredited institution, with emphasis in project management, architecture, interior design, engineering or equivalent work experience in related field or project management work experience.



  • Minimum 7 years project management work experience, including renovations, equipment removal/installations and new construction or equivalent work experience.


Technical Skills: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Projects and PowerPoint) or similar software.
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems. 
  • AutoCAD experience desired. 
  • Adobe Photoshop and 3D rendering skills are highly preferred.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience working in a team-based work environment. 
  • Able to write clearly and concisely and explain complex ideas clearly and succinctly. 
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple projects, work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and respond to changes as they occur.
  • Able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license and commute in a timely manner as required. 
  • Travels by air as required. 
  • Variable work schedule is required on occasion for after hours and weekend projects (May work evenings, weekends, and holidays). 
  • Must be able to move or lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
