A day in your life as a Debit Card Product Manager:

Under the direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for management of the debit card business, including profitability, partnerships and overall market position.  Assists in establishing account and revenue goals, client acquisition and marketing strategies for target customer base. Works closely with key internal partners in Marketing, Branch Division, Retail Deposits and other divisions to support the execution of business plan. Assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act. 

 

We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

  • Responsible for management of debit card business, including profitability, partnerships and overall market position.  Assists in establishing account and revenue goals, client acquisition and marketing strategies for target customer base. Works closely with key internal partners in Marketing, Branch Division, Retail Deposits and other divisions to support the execution of business plan. 
  • Develops and executes card product strategies.  Implements marketing plans to retain market penetration, drive business growth and meet business targets.  Helps create new products in line with business plan and market needs.  Works in collaboration with Digital Banking team and Marketing to develop strategies to market program and independently conduct reviews on market trend and competitor activities to identify opportunities.  Assists in developing new product ideas and ongoing features/benefits tailored for each target segment.
  • Manages customer experience by monitoring client satisfaction and customer complaints.  Partners on existing customer service with Bank of Hawaii (BOH) Client Services Group and Branch Division.  Responsible for managing compliance requirements as well as operational and financial risk.  Works closely with card operations and Digital Banking team to manage disputes and fraud losses. Provides regular reviews and evaluations of issue resolution matters for quality program and product improvements as needed.  Develops materials to train and develop Branch staff and other stakeholder groups on products and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Establishes budget requirements and ensures financial returns for the business.  Completes financial analyses, portfolio trends, opportunity assessments and other product analysis to identify risk reward opportunities and support continued profitable growth of the portfolio.
  • Vendor Management. Monitors vendor performance in accordance with contracts, SLAs, and corporate goals.

 

 


Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business related field or equivalent work experience. 
  • Financial and trend analysis knowledge preferred.

 

Experience: 

  • Minimum five years of product management or other experience with Payments/Debit card products, related banking or equivalent work experience. 
  • Project management and implementation, and marketing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with merchant acquiring and payments networks preferred.

 

Technical Skills: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) or similar software. 
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.

 

Other Job Qualifications: 

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to draw appropriate conclusions from data, summarize information and present logical recommendations to manage customer relations and market current and new products. 
  • Demonstrated marketing skills. 
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with ability to express information and ideas clearly. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation and ability to commute and arrive at intended destination in a timely manner and/or as required. 
  • Travels by air as required.
