A day in your life as a Exceptions Processing Operations Specialist

Under the supervision of the Manager this position is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of deposit account exceptions in the Exceptions Processing Operations (EPO) department.  Responsibilities include:  inputting, correcting and reviewing new and updated information.  If applicable and appropriate, assists in the business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • Provides quality service and/or support in a professional manner by identifying and correcting erroneous or incomplete information on customer transactions to ensure they are processed correctly and within Bank standards.  Assists with fielding communications via telephone, email, fax, or mail, researches and resolves problems as needed.
  • Understands and stays abreast of regulatory changes as they impact the department’s processes.  Works with teammates, operations specialists and manager to maintain a current working knowledge of the functions within the department.   
  • Provides team support, remains flexible to accept additional duties willingly and without hesitation. 
  • Assists with performing preliminary and final functional/performance testing for new or upgraded systems/applications.  Assists with implementing changes or new functions. 
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.



  • One year prior branch or bank experience preferred or equivalent work experience. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of back office operations and processes helpful.


Technical Skills: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) or similar software.   
  • Ability to independently operate required equipment after initial training period.


Other Job Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must be analytical, detail oriented, organized. 
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. 
  • Must possess and exercise critical thinking skills. 
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.
