A day in your life as a Food Services Manager

Under the direction of the Senior Real Estate Asset Manager, manages food, beverage and conference center services at assigned locations on Oahu.  Responsibilities include oversight of casual dining, full service fine dining, and special events.  Manages food & beverage (F&B) vendors with minimum risk while providing the highest quality service.   Ensures business unit’s adherence to and compliance with regulatory requirements as well as Bank policies and procedures related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • Provides leadership and support to vendor and assigned others to create a positive environment that encourages ownership and accountability that meet or exceed business objectives while providing a quality experience.  Maintains a high level of visibility throughout the F&B outlets.  Responsible for executing, monitoring and ensuring exceptional food quality, presentation, and event management while continually working to ensure exceptional service and industry best practices are upheld.
  • Facilitates all administrative, event, and conference support functions.  Ensures the facility and support items are maintained and readily available for the team. Manages and works with vendor, internal customers and assigned others during all phases of service and events.  Ensures consistent, high quality service standards are maintained within the operation through coaching and accountability measures while promoting an environment that welcomes and embraces change.  Develops and nurtures partnerships with all clients, vendors, local restaurateurs and business partners to provide a seamless experience.  Ensures operational compliance with company and loss prevention standards with adherence to state and federal food safety standards.
  • Recommends appropriate actions, develops budgets, monitors payments and ensures timely performance of contracted services and completion of projects. Meets or exceeds financial objectives. Identifies opportunities to reduce operating costs through well-timed replacements or upgrades for maintenance or to achieve efficiencies. Ensures all vendor files, including requests for proposals (RFPs), bids, contracts, payment schedules and financial reporting data are accurate and properly maintained.  Maintains financial responsibility for the accurate and efficient payment of BOH invoices and oversight of vendor invoices.
  • Identifies and escalates problems to vendors and assigned others, tracks and ensures timely resolution. Manages vendors’ contractual obligations to ensure compliance with terms. Facilitates the sourcing & research of products, confirms accuracy and quality compliance of all deliveries through verification, reconciliation, inspection and adherence to Food Safety standards. 
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with major in business, marketing, or management preferred, or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of restaurant or hospitality management or equivalent work experience.
  • With special event and/or catering experience highly preferred.
  • Requires demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and practical business applications including but not limited to; wine/spirits, menu planning, restaurant financials including revenue/profitability, strategic and analytical processes, and operating plan development.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar software.
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.

 

Other Job Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality service, ability to improve operational processes and efficiencies.
  • Ability to develop strong partnering skills and ability to build relationships within the company and business industry. 
  • Proven communication skills and ability to articulate thoughts and work with all levels of management. 
  • Possesses strong organizational, time management and decision-making skills. 
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Must have ability to multi-task and work well under pressure, be prepared to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and has ability to travel to different locations as necessary.
