A day in your life as an Information Risk Management Specialist
Under the direction of the Manager, the Information Risk Management Specialist interfaces with the user community and other information security program risk specialists (line management, Information Security Coordinators, Information Technology, Corporate Sourcing, Corporate Security, and Corporate Business Continuity) to identify information security risks, improve information security awareness through education and training, manages the Information Security and Identity Theft programs, and enhances and manages the IT DR Program. Assists with business unit’s compliance to ensure line and technology management compliance with applicable laws and regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to GLBA, FACTA, PCI DSS, Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

We’ll give you these important responsibilities…
• Leads assigned Information Security risk management activities including IT security risk assessment, vendor and procurement risk management, and manages the remediation of identified gaps and issues. Measures program effectiveness and provides analysis to senior management. Develops processes and acquires tools for evaluating information security risk, and integrates those tools into the overall Information Security risk management process.
• Develops information security training, education, and awareness program including the development of training tools, tips, alerts, and training schedules.
• Coordinates and facilities the development of IT Disaster Recovery Plan. Ensures all Application Recovery Plans, based on the Application Recovery Priorities, are adequate, in place, maintained and tested as part of the regular operational life cycle.
• Manages and matures the information technology and information security governance program. Recommends changes to, maintains, develops, and revises corporate wide information security, information technology, and identity theft program policies and procedures. Provides guidance and determines the necessary components for the information technology, information security and identity theft programs for the Bank user community.
• Serves as the Information Security Incident Response program manager, providing oversight of the Bank’s incident response program, scheduling, coordinating and conducting incident response exercises, and ensuring timely update of associated policies and procedures.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for various technologies, IT Risk, Control and Security. Develops and manages ongoing business partnerships and communication regarding the information security and identity theft programs, including regular activity reporting and updates to the user community. Interprets regulatory requirements and corporate policies, communicates changes, and provides oversight of compliance as required. Builds and matures a culture focused on pro-active awareness and continuous improvement of the risk environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and/or Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) preferred
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years of information security/information technology work experience in a combination of the following areas:
    • Conducting information security risk assessments
    • Managing vendor/procurement risk
    • Developing and maintaining information security awareness and education programs
    • Experience with information technology audits, preferably in the financial services industry
    • Knowledge of or experience with IT disaster preparedness planning and/or emergency response plans
    • Training in contingency planning and emergency management preferred
    • Experience in managing information technology/security projects to drive business process improvements (required)
    • Influencing the behaviors and competencies of a risk based mindset across an organization, banking or financial services preferred
  • Experience working with Sarbanes Oxley, Gramm-Leach Bliley Act, and other laws and regulations affecting the financial services industry
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Access, Power Point and SharePoint) or similar software
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software Web site maintenance experience required
  • Proficient knowledge of information security risk assessment frameworks and risk management methodologies also required
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills to all levels of management
  • Should be analytical and well organized with good project management skills
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative work style and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Must possess strong influence and problem solving skills with the flexibility to adapt approach as required to achieve goals in different business areas
  • Knowledgeable of information security systems concepts, new approaches, techniques and best practices Able to quickly analyze a complex situation, identify solutions and alternatives and implement process improvements
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed
  • Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license, and able to commute and arrive at various locations on a timely basis in order to work at multiple job locations
  • May travel off-island as required
