A day in your life as a People Service Center Assistant Manager
Under the direction of the People Service Center Manager, the People Service Center Assistant Manager leads the delivery of HR services to employees, managers, and external vendors. Directly supervises Service Center operations, benefits, well-being, retirement planning, employee leaves, and workers compensation to include design, implementation, and evaluation of program activities. Works with Service Center staff on process improvement to enhance operational efficiency. Ensures business units compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • Supervises the delivery of HR services in a cost-efficient, customer-friendly manner that provides accurate and timely information to managers and employees.  Ensures day-to-day operations are compliant with changes to applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations, internal policies, and current plan designs.
  • Assists in the implementation of benefits, retirement planning and well-being programs to attract, engage, and retain employees. Implements communication/education programs to enhance employee knowledge, participation and effective use of programs. 
  • Collaborates with People Services Manager to streamline processes, systems, and practices to provide best in class HR service delivery.  Provides guidance to Service Center staff and assists in resolving problems or issues.  Partners with People Services Manager in the development of annual People Services goals and objectives that align with organizational strategies. 
  • Supervises employee leaves, ADA-AA and workers compensation functions and ensures accurate tracking and communication between employees, managers, and Service Center.
  • Monitors service level agreements with vendors.  Tracks vendor costs and reports issues and opportunities that arise. 
  • Assists with the management of all employees in the team including staffing and scheduling, compensation, performance management, training and development.   Goal is to attract, retain and motivate the team to achieve management business objectives and maintain a favorable employee relations climate.  Responsible for the timely and effective management of People Services forms and documents relevant to immediate staff.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

This position requires use of a personal computer and other standard office equipment (typewriter, fax, copier, calculator and telephone).

  • Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience:  Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, with 3 years management/supervisory experience.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency and advanced expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Access, Power Point and SharePoint) or similar software.  Knowledge of or ability to use HR software.  Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws impacting benefit administration.
  • Other Job Qualifications: Demonstrated verbal and written communication, analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.  Must be detail oriented, organized, handle multiple priorities, and able to meet deadlines. Possess analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills to identify business and process improvement opportunities and risks, implement procedural change, and establish internal controls.  Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and assignments with varying deadlines.  Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.  Ability to express complex ideas in concise and simple terms.   Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork, team building, conflict management, negotiating and problem solving skills.
