A day in your life as a People Service Center Representative
Under the supervision of the People Service Center Manager, the People Service Center Representative I is responsible for providing quality service to customers with regard to their individual human resource related needs through a demonstrated understanding of customer needs, timely response to inquiry, and a high level of confidentiality.  Assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • Interprets and communicates both verbally and in writing People Services policies and procedures in response to employee, retiree, vendor and other inquires.  Researches and resolves questions/issues and maintains accurate records and documentation on inquiries.  Identifies cases to be escalated to Tier 2 resources within the People Services Service Center or appropriate Specialty area(s) or Manager.  Facilitates escalation process to ensure smooth transition.  Communicates with vendors in response to customer needs and follow up as necessary.  Also communicates with team, for issue resolution, including active participation in department and team meetings. Keeps informed of current bank policies, procedures, federal laws and regulations. Identifies process improvement areas and recommends/implements innovative changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Processes and inputs various transactions and customer requests in accordance with internal procedures, contract provisions, and governmental regulations.  Requests include, but are not limited to: benefit enrollment, payroll processing, personal data changes, salary changes, termination processing, new hire processing, leave administration, document duplication and imaging.  Maintains accurate records and documentation on employee and retiree inquiries and transactions.  Responsible for the delivery of the benefits presentation at New Hire Orientation and for setup & prep for New Hire Orientation including, but not limited to, folder prep, meal orders, and physical room setup. 
  • Provides guidance and training to fellow Service Center Representatives to ensure servicing and transaction levels meet or exceeds expectations. Keeps up to date with changes to system(s) and assists in training employees on upgrades, changes, enhancements to system(s) and processes.  Collects benefits and human resources policy updates and changes and assists in ensuring dissemination of information to all employees. Investigates and analyzes service problems and assists in developing corrective action.  Monitors service activity and maintains detailed documentation regarding inquiries. 
  • Participates in Division wide initiatives and events as assigned including, but not limited to, People Services Communication Team, Open Enrollment Project Team, Focal Project Team, Live Kokua Fundraiser Team, and Holiday Party Planning Team.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.



  • Up to 3 years of human resources, customer service, or call center experience.
  • Basic understanding of ERISA, FLSA, and other regulations impacting human resource administration. 
  • Understanding of all People Services policies and procedures.


Technical Skills: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) or similar software. 
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.  


Other Job Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated written and oral communications skills are necessary to interact with customers using multiple channels.
  • Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines. 
  • Must be able to work in a confined office environment. 
  • Must be able to work for extended periods of time sitting, talking on the telephone and using the computer. 
  • Must be able to push cart and lift up to 25 pounds. 
  • Also requires the use of scanning equipment, microfiche reader, etc.
