A day in your life as a Treasury Accounting Senior Analyst:
Under the direction of the Treasury Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the design, development and management/administration of financial accounting matters covering treasury and treasury operations.  In addition, the Treasury Accounting Senior Analyst works in conjunction with the Treasury Operations Manager in the development of financial statements, department budgets, forecasts and month end close process, ensuring the accuracy of all financial and accounting information within Treasury.  Where applicable and appropriate, assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • General Ledger:   This position is responsible for the general ledger system and other sub-systems which includes accurately analyzing and distributing financial data, preparing or reviewing journal entries, and compiling financial statements, variance analysis reports and supporting schedules.  Evaluates, reconciles and analyzes all financial activity, validating results of interfaces from various systems into the general ledger system and identifying and directing entry of any necessary monthly journal entries.  Analyzes and interprets financial data, treasury activity, troubleshoots outstanding financial matters with management and co-workers on a regular basis.  Prepares account and bank reconciliations, audit preparation and support and evaluates budget variance analysis ensuring financial reporting validity.  Monitors trends, researches variances and works in conjunction with the Treasury Operations Manager to present the financial results to management.
  • Financial Accounting:  Serves as the financial information resource for the business unit about finance concepts and applications.  Handles financial, GAAP, regulatory and management accounting issues as necessary.  Deals with routine financial matters and knows where to refer complex/unique issues; follows-up until closure on all issues.  Manages various accounting processes and accruals within the division. 
  • Internal, External and Regulatory Audit Coordination:  Serves as the primary point of contact for all matters pertaining to Internal Audit, external audit and regulatory agency audit and review procedures.  Manages status and fulfillment of all audit related requests in accordance with appropriate timelines. 
  • Treasury Operations:  Performs at a high technical and seniority level for temporary coverage and cross training purposes on all desks including the day-to-day processing of securities booked in the investment portfolio system, collateral management, entering and settling of foreign exchange transactions in the bank’s multi-currency system and monitoring the intraday liquidity of our accounts at various financial institutions.  In all cases, processes transactions accurately and timely and maintains current information on the various systems.  Ensures that all deadlines are met.  Researches and resolves discrepancies.  Independently handles all operational requirements.
  • Department Budget & Forecasts:   Works collaboratively with the Treasury Operations Manager in the development and execution of the division financial models, annual capital budget and corporate forecasts.  This position is a liaison between the department and BOH Financial and Management Reporting departments ensuring all financial matters are in compliance with the financial reporting requirements.  Analyzes current processes to identify potential opportunities to improve performance and increase efficiencies by identifying issues, potential problems and solutions related to financial development and implementation.  Develops and executes solutions, strategies and tactics based on logical assumptions and facts considering resources constraints and values.  Updates policies and procedures as needed.  


Qualifications

Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting, finance or related subject, or equivalent work experience.  

Experience: 
  • Minimum five years of experience in increasingly responsible accounting and/or finance positions for accounting/finance department of large corporation, complicated general ledger system, varied assets and income types, project accounting, etc.  
  • Should be extremely comfortable with generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls, finance concepts and standard reporting of all types.  
  • Must have ability to interpret a variety of financial data to prepare high quality reports.  
  • Banking, financial service industry and treasury experience preferred.

Technical Skills: 
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. 
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems including mainframe systems and accounting systems such as FIS.  
  • Must have advanced spreadsheet and relational database proficiency and excellent report writing skills.

  • Ability to work in a team-based work environment with management, coworkers and other departments as well as independently.
