Telescope Support Technician is
responsible for daily on-site telescope, dome,& instrumentation configuration in
support of nightly
astronomical
observations on the summit of Mauna Kea. Daily support includes telescope, dome, and instrument check-outs and start-ups,
configuration changes, slit mask milling, and cryogenic servicing.
Journeyman Electrician/Infrastructure
Technician
is responsible for
performing electrical work up to 480V at the observatory facility on the summit of Mauna Kea; on occasion,
electrical work may be performed at the
observatory's
headquarters in Waimea. A secondary responsibility is to
assist with fabrication, installation,
maintenance and
repair of summit
infrastructure.
